Collision Detection in Vrml: a Survey

چکیده
Collision detection is a fundamental problem in robotics, computer animation, physically based modeling and computer simulation environments. This paper explains the collision detection problem in 3D domains. It reviews the problem and the techniques used to solve it. Many algorithms used in collision detection are discussed. Finally, it shows the way VRML detects collision using collision node. The browser is responsible for detecting collisions between the viewer and the objects in the virtual world, and is responsible for adjusting the viewer’s location when a collision occurs. Also, the collision detection can be set during run-time by using the plugins program. A VRML model for aircraft was built as case study for Collision detection.

A Fast and Robust GJK Implementation for Collision Detection of Convex Objects
This paper presents an implementation of the Gilbert-Johnson-Keerthi algorithm for computing the distance between convex objects, that has improved performance, robustness, and versatility over earlier implementations. The algorithm presented here is especially fit for use in collision detection of objects modeled using various types of geometric primitives, such as boxes, cones, and spheres, a...
متن کاملWeb-based VR training simulator for percutaneous rhizotomy.
Virtual Reality offers great potential for surgical training--yet is typically limited by the dedicated and expensive equipment required. Web-based VR has the potential to offer a much cheaper alternative, in which simulations of fundamental techniques are downloaded from a server to run within a web browser. The equipment requirement is modest--an Internet-connected PC or small workstation--an...
متن کاملCollision detection between moving objects using uniform space subdivision
Fast and accurate collision detection between general solid models is a fundamental problem in solid modeling, robotics, animation and computer-simulated environments. The most of the algorithms are restricted to an approximate collision detection. In the paper, we also present an algorithm for collision detection between 3D objects. The algorithm can be used in simulation robotics or any other...
متن کامل1 Telerobotics Experiments via Internet
This paper describes design issues involved in providing remote users with internet access to laboratory or production line based hardware. Simulation tools for the robotic hardware were developed using C++ and VRML 97 to create a desktop virtual reality environment which improves the visualisation of the manipulator hardware and associated workspace. Communication between the remote user and p...
متن کاملA Prototype Hotel Browsing System Using Java3D
Java3D is an application-centred approach to building 3D worlds. We use Java3D and VRML to design a prototype WWW-based 3D Hotel Browsing system. A Java3D scene graph viewer was implemented to interactively explore objects in a virtual universe using models generated by a commercial computer graphics suite and imported using a VRML file loader. A special collision prevention mechansim is also d...
